Upcoming PRO-NEST EVENTS

25-27 Oct 2011: PRO-NEST symposium during the 20th Meeting of the EAU Section of Urological Research (ESUR) in Strasbourg, France (open meeting).

The PRO-NEST symposium is the opening session of the 20th ESUR meeting on Thursday 25 October 2012 from 13.00 till 19.00 PM (see the congress website http://esur.uroweb.org for congress details and the scientific programme). The symposium will be chaired by Guido Jenster (PRO-NEST coordinator) and Anders Bjartell. The following outstanding scientists in prostate cancer research will give a keynote lecture:

1. John Isaacs (Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, USA) on prostate cancer.
2. Karen Knudsen (Thomas Jefferson University, USA) on the cell cycle and androgen receptor in prostate cancer.
3. Marianne Sadar (Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre, Canada) on androgen receptor in advanced prostate cancer.
4. Robert Reiter (David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, USA) on prostate cancer metastasis.
5. Scott Tomlins (University of Michigan, USA) on molecular subtyping of prostate cancer using high-throughput technologies.

18-21 June 2011: 4th PRO-NEST training course in Oxford, UK (closed meeting)

The preparations for the Oxford meeting are ongoing. Workshops on how to write a scientific manuscript and on job application skills have been arranged. All PRO-NEST PhD fellows will present an update on the progress of their research projects.

Previous PRO-NEST EVENTS

12-15 Sept 2011: 3rd PRO-NEST training course in Igls, Austria followed by the 9th World Congress on Urological Research on 15-17 September in Innsbruck, Austria.

Training topics: communications, ethics, scientific presentations by all fellows. The majority of the fellows have also presented their research at the WCUR congress.

4-5 Apr 2011: Workshop on Leadership and Entrepeneurship in Rotterdam, The Netherlands

9-11 Oct 2011: 2nd PRO-NEST training course in Vilnius, Lithuania in conjunction with the 19th Meeting of the EAU Section of Urological Research (ESUR) on 7-9 October

Training topics: career development, time and project management, scientific presentations by all fellows. Fellows have also presented their research at the ESUR congress.

10-12 Mar 2010: 1st PRO-NEST training course in Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Training topics: clinical and molecular aspects of prostate cancer, biomarkers and therapeutic targets for prostate cancer, technology developments, bioinformatics, systems biology, epidemiology, statistics, valorisation, scientific writing and presentation, presentation of research project outline by all fellows
