PRO-NEST symposium at the 20th ESUR meeting on October 25-27, 2012 in Strasbourg, France

This symposium will be organized as a closing PRO-NEST event in collaboration with the Board of the ESUR and the Organizing Committee of the 20th ESUR meeting. The symposium offers the PRO-NEST fellows a platform to present their research. In addition, the following outstanding scientists in prostate cancer research will provide a keynote lecture:

  1. Prof. dr. John Isaacs (Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, USA) on prostate cancer.
  2. Prof. dr. Karen Knudsen (Thomas Jefferson University, USA) on the cell cycle and androgen receptor in prostate cancer.
  3. Prof. dr. Robert Reiter (David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, USA) on prostate cancer metastasis.
  4. Dr. Scott Tomlins (University of Michigan, USA) on prostate cancer fusion genes and novel ncRNA transcripts.
The symposium will be open for all interested persons! More information on this event will be made available in due time via this website and the ESUR congress website.

First PRO-NEST fellowship completed

Ramzi Temanni, postdoc at ServiceXS, is the first fellow who has completed his PRO-NEST fellowship. He has accepted a bioinformatics position at the prestigious University of Maryland Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology in the USA.

Successful Mid Term Review for PRO-NEST

PRO-NEST has been positively evaluated during the mid term review by the Research Executive Agency. The external reviewer has rated PRO-NEST as an excellent ITN project and a potential success story.

PRO-NEST fellows awarded

At the 9th World Congress on Urological Research, September 2011 in Innsbruck, Austria, Deepali Pal (University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne) received a travel award in acknowledgement of an outstanding abstract. Jayant Rane (University of York) received a similar award at the 19th ESUR meeting, October 2010 in Vilnius, Lithuania, next to an oral presentation award at the International conference of cancer and stem cells in Pune, India and the KM Stott prize for a first year poster presentation at the Department of Biology, University of York, UK. Constantine Semenchenko (CERBM) received the ARTP poster award at the 19th ESUR meeting, October 2010 in Vilnius, Lithuania. Jayant Rane (University of York) and Ronald Carpio (Lund University) were selected to attend the 61st Meeting of Nobel Laureates, Lindau, Germany (June-July, 2011).

PRO-NEST presents at the 9th World Congress on Urological Research on 15-17 September 2011 in Innsbruck, Austria

PRO-NEST fellows will present the latest results of their research projects at the 9th World Congress on Urological Research on 15-17 September 2011 in Innsbruck, Austria. This is the joint meeting of the European Section of Urological Research (ESUR) and the American Society for Basic Urological Research (SBUR). For further details please visit esur-sbur.uroweb.org.

3rd PRO-NEST training course and Mid Term Review in Igls, Austria on 12-15 September 2011

After a successful second training course in Vilnius, Lithuania in October 2010 and a workshop on Leadership and Entrepeneurship in Rotterdam, The Netherlands in April 2011, the 3rd PRO-NEST training course will take place in Igls, Austria on 12-15 September 2011. This event will coincide with the Mid Term Review of PRO-NEST by the Research Executive Agency acting on behalf of the European Commission that is funding PRO-NEST.

PRO-NEST presents at the 19th meeting of the ESUR

Various PRO-NEST fellows will present the latest results of their research projects at the 19th Meeting of the EAU Section of Urological Research (ESUR) on 7-9 October 2010 in Vilnius, Lithuania (http://esur.uroweb.org).

First PRO-NEST training course in Rotterdam, The Netherlands on 10-12 March 2010

The first PRO-NEST training course was successfully organized in collaboration with the FP6 Marie Curie Research Training Network CANCURE. This course was attended by 17 PRO-NEST fellows.
