PRO-NEST offers 24 fellows an integrated, multi-disciplinary training programme to become an independent and all-round scientist and team leader in (prostate) cancer research.
The PRO-NEST training programme consists of the following six core training elements:
- Basic research of prostate cancer
- Biomarkers for prostate cancer
- Clinical research of prostate cancer
- Technologies used in prostate cancer research
- Valorisation and Commerce
- Complementary skills (including scientific writing and presentation, project management, communication skills and job application skills)
The PRO-NEST fellows are trained on these core elements by:
- Individual PhD or post-doc research projects
- Secondments and collaborative research with other partners
- Four PRO-NEST network-wide training courses in which basic and in-depth scientific and non-scientific training is provided by experts in the field
- International conference "The European prostate cancer research floor on stage" scheduled in the autumn of 2012
The first network-training course has been organized in Rotterdam, The Netherlands on 10-12 March 2010.
The second course will take place on 9-11 October 2010 in Vilnius, Lithuania, in conjunction with the 19th Meeting of the EAU Section of Urological Research (ESUR, http://esur.uroweb.org).
